
waaaah. I’ve been getting acid reflux almost daily for the last 2 weeks. I’ve had it for a number of months but it was maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks. I know that eating acidic and spicy foods can cause it to flare up. What I didn’t know was that foods high in starch have the same effect. I made a risotto on sunday, and I have been eating the leftovers because I made so much but every time I ate it, my reflux came back. One way to combat reflux is to drink cows milk but I’m slightly lactose intolerant so I can only have a little. I’ve been off milk for the last month or even longer. I drink rice milk. The smell of cows milk puts me off so much but it’s the only thing that relieves the fire in my throat! :(
Fruits and vegetables are supposed to combat this which I knew. I buy my own groceries and it’s really difficult to buy a lot of fruit/veg all at once because I don’t want it going off (dumb supermarkets supplying 10 month old apples so when you take them home out of the oxygen chamber (or some special hyperbaric environment where it keeps them fresh and when you take them out of there, they go off really quickly, yes I saw this on Today Tonight), plus I have to walk home with it and it’s heavy, plus I also need to budget my money. WHAT A PICKLE! :/

my sister used to get acid reflux a lot and she had to have surgery for it. but it still didn’t go away and turns out she just needed to be gluten free. craziness. eat well and feel better!!
